Wondering what I was thinking drinking on a Monday night. My Tuesday hates me for it.

Dangerous thunderstorms with wind gusts of up to 65mph are getting ready to hit my area.

And I gotta go to school later than normal.

So, if someone you knew was getting paid to act as a medical carer for someone else you know, and they have a set number of hours they're contracted for each week, of which they do less than half, offer no actual care, and yet are happy to cash the checks coming in anyway... you wouldn't be crazy for looking to replace that person, yeah? In fact, you'd be entirely justified in doing so, since the inadequate care from this "Carer" is preventing our hypothetical patient from actually receiving they care they need, right?

And the fact that the "Carer" is dirt poor and needs the money wouldn't change that fact, yes? Because they're toying with the health of another person for fraudulent monetary gain?

Why the fuck do I feel like the bad guy for putting my foot down on this? I'm not just being an asshole, am I?

Do you even have to ask? Dirt poor carer person had every opportunity to actually do their job. Dirt poor carer person chose not to do their job. Send this person packing. Wish them all the luck in finding a new job where they are actually compelled to do the work they're paid to do.

Unless said person is supposed to be caring for a bunneh. In which case, throw their ass out into the street and tell them to get lost

Said person is, indeed, employed to be Luckie's carer. They are also my mother-in-law, which complicates matters. But Luckie needs that care, she's set up for 16 hours of it a week, of which she's maybe getting four, and every week that her mom is happy to cash the check while doing a fraction of the work, and none of it in a way that we actually need, is another week Luckie isn't getting the help toward recovery that she actually needs. I can't just stand by and countenance that, and they've had a good long period to actually start helping, which hasn't happened.

Today kind of broke me on this. Luckie contacts them to ask for help, on a day they're scheduled to work, and the response is a no: these people are ten feet away, being asked to do ten minutes of work they're being paid for, and they flatly refuse. I go down there to do it for them, taking time out of my workday to do so, and I get a lecture from them full of advice for how to care for Luckie, as though I'm the person getting paid to care for her. I just can't sit there and let that happen anymore, and yet I still feel like I'm in the wrong: I tell ya, childhood can fuck a person's headspace up.
