I checked out some Pilkington for the first time just yesterday. I agree, very funny.

Another red alert stinker (currently 38 degrees C (100.4) F here in Melbourne... Left work at noon ... now sitting comfortably at home with the aircon on high in my trusted undies...

Spent about an hour fussing with my alto clarinet, trying out various reeds and working on getting a good tone in the higher registers. Alto clarinets are notorious for sounding fantastic in the chalumeau (bottom) register and getting increasingly weird and squeaky as one goes up the scale, but I managed to find one particularly nice reed that sounded great all the way up. Now, if I could clone that sucker, I'd have it made.
Oh, and I also worked on "Powerhouse" by Raymond Scott. Love that piece. |
