Okay, I mentioned I wanted to know whether John would have the Vaux ready before Dad and I leave for Door County on Saturday. The good news is that he did. And he even confirmed that the knobs on the tone stack were mislabeled by the original, and even fixed the tone stack mod a bit (there's still a sizable drop in volume, but it's not as bad as before.) Unfortunately, there's a massive ground hum that wasn't there before.

Okay, about that previous post, I decided to try and record the Vaux amp's weird new ground hum. The first stage was going to be to match volume levels with my control amp (the Pignose), but when I tried to get the volume of the Vaux to the right level, I noticed something weird: it was working properly. There was no hum. We spent the next 15 minutes or so playing with it and trying to see if we can replicate the conditions that created the ground hum and we did for about ten seconds and then it resolved itself.

Have you checked for cold solder joints etc?
