Sup, yo? Long time no check in so I thought I'd stop in to say hey.
Personal update: Doing good; finished my two-year medical study in July so now I'm only taking two pills a day and not EIGHT -_- Also, I think the end of the medical study coincided with my eyebrows growing back so I'm looking a little less like a zombie alien and more like just a zombie. I was furloughed back in April because of COVID but was brought back the first of October. Office moved from downtown to like 15 minutes from my house so that's pretty awesome, and even more awesome is that I get to work from home due to COVID restrictions and me being maybe, kinda, sorta still high risk even though my docs tell me I'm not. But ya know what? I survived cancer, I'm not going to die of COVID. Started an art youtube channel that I'm playing with to keep me occupied when I'm not working. One thing I figured out (that I sort of already knew) was that I don't do well when I don't have something to occupy my time so starting YT during quarantine was helpful in maintain some level of mental health. Now that I'm working again, tho, it's definitely relegated to hobby-status. Also, with it being an art channel there's the problem of the content being tied to a time-intensive activity so... uploads aren't hugely frequent. Whatevs, tho, it's for me. I lost my two precious boys over the last year: Riley had a stomach tumor and had to be put down September of 2019 and, out of the blue, Rudy suddenly started declining in February-March and ended up with the same kind of tumor, so my quarantine and furlough also started with me putting my cat down. Shitty. I did end up adopting a bengal cat, though, but she lives at my parents' house where my work-from-home desk is so even though she doesn't live with me I see her every day. If you've never seen a bengal they look like a house-cat sized leopard (google them, they're STUNNING!). The family that originally owned her got her from a breeder, then got two dogs and gave her up to a second family that had two other cats and loud kids. She wasn't doing well in that situation (retreating to only one room of the house and never seeing or interacting with anyone) and I ended up hearing about her from my aunt. She's doing really well with us; she's exploring, enjoying watching the squirrels outside, likes to lay in front of the fire and felt brave enough last week to be out in the living room while workers were here putting in new carpet on the stairs. Uh... yeah, I think that's most of the major items so... I'm still around.

Watching the Q&A on the new Criterion Blu-Ray of Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai with this on my mind:
For the record, Criterion solicited questions for Jim Jarmusch (who, just for the record, is probably my third-favourite living filmmaker who didn't get his start in the New Hollywood era, behind only Paul Thomas Anderson and Quentin Tarantino) for the new Blu-Ray release, and I asked him at least one question (possibly two, but I can't for the life of me remember what the other one is). The question I know I asked him was (and this is not verbatim), "What films/books/music influenced your style?" Amazingly, someone else (from Melbourne, of all places) asked that same question and got on the Blu-Ray (maybe his tying it back to Ghost Dog's code had something to do with it.) For the record, he cited books on filmmaking by Robert Bresson, Andrei Tarkovsky, and Carl Theodor Dreyer. A good trio, I reckon. Oh, well, at least I have an hour left for senpai to notice me. I figured out that the Q&A is put in chapters (one question per chapter). So I checked the beginning of each one. My name didn't appear in any of them.

I figured out a way to make consuming the protein drinks the doctor wants me to drink more palatable. I am now blending them with ice cream and making them into milkshakes...enjoying one right now. Pretty tasty.
