Dad and I managed to finally make that vintage style saddle strap for my Cigar Box Guitar.

[Image: B1-A1-DE7-D-B07-E-4255-A21-C-FC5-B3-FE922-E2.jpg]

What you need:
A long strap of leather, probably 3/4” wide, the thicker the better.
A smaller piece of leather that can be shaped into a saddle of about 1.5-2” by 12-18”.
A hole puncher that can go through leather
A husky knife

What to do:
1) About an inch from the start of the strap, in the middle (widthwise) make your first punches with the hole puncher. What we did is start with one large hole punch in the middle, then four more in a cloverleaf style.
2) Once the resulting hole is sufficiently large, carve a slit long enough (downwards) for the top strap button to get in.
3) Take the other piece of leather, and cut it down to the preferred size (1.5-2” wide, 12-18” long).
4) Cut two to four small slits large enough for the longer strap to slide into (1” by 1/4” seems right), closer to either edge of the saddle.
5) Thread the strap into the saddle.
6) Hold your guitar as you’d use it IRL and try to find where the other strap button would go. Mark its location once you have found it.
7) Once you find the spot, repeat step 1 and 2, but carve the slit upwards, towards the other strap button.
8) optional: cut the excess length down.

And that’s it. It’s your own personal custom guitar strap and the hardest part was probably finding the right leather. I used European Leather Works, which is on Etsy, and you can get those raw materials for less than $30 with free shipping.

Trying to figure out what to replay next now that I've finished Horizon Zero Dawn.

Know how you feel empty, as though you've poured all of yourself into something and now that it's over you don't know what to do with yourself?

That's how I'm feeling, as though no other game can provide me with the same experience I just had. Which is why I don't know what to play next.

But I'll give myself some time to relax before moving on.

I remember the first time I turned over Frogger on the Atari 2600.

Trying to console someone about their stressful job. I suck at this, by the by.

I don't feel like we're having a real conversation. She talks about this almost every time we talk and at this point, it's just me repeating things she said back to her while saying "Sorry" "aw" and "that's tough" and tacking on a "well hopefully..." positive spin tacked onto the end. I am a problem solver. I dislike sitting around and complaining or wallowing in a bad stressful situation. So when it comes to other people and I know she just needs someone to listen, I'm biting my tongue for stuff she doesn't want to hear about how to "fix it".

Where does she work and what's the main issue?

She works in a cath lab. It's just a lot of long hours and the people she works with are cliquish and backstabbing, so, it stresses her out. She has to be on call a lot at night so she has trouble sleeping, even when she doesn't get called in. And she's sick with a cold, again. She's been sick 3-4 times just this year(not Covid). The way she talks about it, she sounds absolutely miserable. I once suggested to her that she should leave or try to transfer to a different lab but those aren't options. She is learning coding in her spare time but it's slow going and she just started a few months ago.

I dunno. It's one of those things where she just needs to talk but I hate this type of talking without thinking of solutions.
