Come up with a new instrument build idea with Dad. It's nothing as elaborate as the Ki'eHe'aLele. It's basically this:




Plus a GFS Metal Foil surface mount pickup in place of the humbucker (just as Ry Cooder intended), a lap steel fingerboard we've kept around since Dad accidentally ordered one for the Diddley Bow years ago, a layer of gold leaf for finish, and maybe a little angling at the fingerboard to keep the string break angle relatively straight.

And inspired by this Dr. John song, it shall be The Guilded Splinter:

Didn't sleep well last night and feel awful in a half dozen different ways. Workweek is done so I think I am going to try to get a little bit of sleep hoping I'll feel better afterward.
