What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
I screwed up majorly today. I've been having a bad run this year. Still, because my mind is healthy, that's okay, I take things in stride these days. For 40 years that wasn't the case, and you couldn't have convinced me during those 40 years that it could ever change. But it did. Hang in there. Even depressed, I had better days and worse days. Don't let the bastard win.

Watching baseball and playing with a Kindle Paperwhite that I bought on Woot. It's the 2015 model. It's got a small bright spot, but otherwise appears functional.

Just made an appt. for Friday morning to get my new COVID shot and my flu shot. Probably not going to feel too spiffy this weekend but it's better than coming down with either illness. I'll let you know if the refrigerator magnets fly off and stick to my arms or if I am able to pick up FM stations with no electronics.

Uncertain if I'm getting the next shot, unless work demands it, because I worked entirely through the beginning of the pandemic and never tested positive. Have yet to still test positive.

Yeah, but I am old and have had cancer and a heart attack.  Seems to be a wise choice for me.

I figure getting the shot improves my odds, nothing more. I'll take it.

Coming up on four months since I quit alcohol. Life is so much better without it.

It's looking like we're going to be closing on a house in Mexico next month.

Copying music files to my tablet. I spent a few hours resetting my tablet because Alexa was hosed and Google Services wouldn't run right, all so that I could install MediaMonkey, which plays all my lossless music on the PC version. Not so in the Android version. But I accidentally found out that I had already purchased the paid version of my favorite music player and so I didn't need a new player. So I went back to copying music files from my collection to my tablet. I've got over a thousand albums on disk. I've gone through about half of that, picking albums to put on the tablet. I'll go through the other half some other time.

Does lossless (v. lossy) music even exist? I'm no expert, but, I suspect that the master is ultra high fidelity with a large bit depth and sampling rate. Anything beyond that would involve some compression??

Depends upon what you mean by lossless. Generally lossless means a storage format which preserves the information present in the uncompressed source, typically CD quality.
