Awake, not long after going to sleep thanks to new guy in the neighborhood who felt the need to show us all how loud his car is and waking up and riling up all the dogs in this house and the rest of the neighborhood. There wasn't any thunder tonight so I guess he had to fill the void.

Pick up any scrapings and disappear into the night. Next time he fires it up, there will be peace and quiet until the tow truck comes to take his vehicle to the shop to get a new head gasket.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

There wasn't any thunder tonight so I guess he had to fill the void. This is an old neighborhood and is inhabited by mostly older people and few kids. Then Hotrod Harry decides to move in. The people next to him (and behind us) already put up a huge fence in hopes of drowning out some of the noise.
Alexa informs me that the slow cooker I've had my eye on will be dropping $20 in price soon. Not that I need to be spending the money, but it's better to buy it now I suppose.

Just got back from a two week trip to Oregon. Flew to Medford, bus (NEVER again) to Salem, Amtrak back to Denver. Going forward, if I have the time, I am taking the train. The ease, the convenience, the comfort... the lack of TSA. Best way to travel. The flying sardine tins, guarded by the American Gestapo, will be reserved for places not served by train and "need to be there quickly" trips.

A certain day of the week, when I'm arriving at work and pass by the community dining room, there is a singer entertaining the residents. They always sound horrible, and I cringe every time they're off key.

I've been building annual playlists on Tidal, starting in the mid-sixties, and have been having a lot of "I never knew/completely forgot that "Song X" was done by "Band Y," "these guys are way better than I ever gave them credit for," and "how the hell have I never heard this before" moments, and not just with older bands, but with pretty much every decade. Been hella fun so far, and I'm looking forward to more as I work my way through.
