RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Wrapping up work, leaving to go spend a week in the woods with a bunch of hippies.

Donating plasma. I detoured south to Wal-Mart to return some things before swinging north. Gonna pick up some chicken for dinner.

Granddaughter told me that her trip to Bonnaroo was life-changing.

I asked her if she found god.

She said no, just a bunch of really interesting hippies.

That's my girl!

After COVID and then my health being shaky for the last year+, I am going to try to get out and see some people while I still can.

If' you come even remotely close to Denver, I'll buy lunch (breakfast, dinner, whatever...)

I would love that but I think the farthest west I will get is around Omaha.  After a diagonal trek through Missouri to Wisconsin (where my best friend of the last 50+ years lives) I will then head on to Chicago.  I haven't seen my sister in 15 years and her birthday is that week, might even get a glimpse of my niece if she is not traveling to a music festival somewhere.  Only plan to stay there about a day and a half then through Iowa...I know people all along that route that I may or may not stop to see...probably skip The Field of Dreams this time since they have ruined it.  *sigh*  On to the Omaha area where I may spend a couple days then south to home.  I know it sounds like a fascinating trip  Angel but it's home.  I have people I want to see and people I want to avoid (like my brother).

RE: What's everyone up to right now?
When I had the medical procedures done at the end of April, among some bills involved (still haven't rec'd one from the anesthesiologist) I was quoted a certain amount of out of pocket. Then I got a bill that was a couple hundred dollars more. So I called and asked why the difference and it was explained to me and made sense so okay.

I paid almost half the bill that day. Two days later I get an email demanding either the balance due or to set up a payment plan. I paid the remainder of original estimate. A week later I got another email demanding the balance...which was now down to a couple hundred dollars. I called to ask why they were bugging so much when I was obviously paying. The lady on the phone said she wasn't sure why the billing department was being so aggressive. I went ahead and paid the rest.

Today I received a check for half the amount that was over the estimate.

WTAF. I mean, that's great and I am not going to turn down money but they were treating me like some deadbeat for about 11 days only to find out they were overcharging me in the first place.

Medical care in the US is so damn broken.

Seeing the results of it every day, I agree.

I have to use cognitive dissonance to ignore the fact that I simply cannot always provide proper care. Which is why I cannot stress enough that if you're able to do more for yourself than most, try not to bother the staff with every little thing --- and please keep in mind that there are others who might need more help than you.

When I was in the cardiac ICU, by the second day I was cleaning my room.  Also had my laptop brought to me which a nurse said she had never seen in ICU before.

At first I would get up to go to the restroom and then the monitors and everything would start beeping and someone would have to come reset everything.  I figured out that if I waited for the automatic BP to run, I had about an hour before it would go again.  So as soon as the cuff went down, I would unhook what I could including the squeezy things they put on your legs...go to the bathroom,  clean up a bit then get back into bed and plug everything back in.  That worked great as no alarms went off.  Since I was up so often, they removed the squeezy things from my legs much sooner than they normally would have.

I am not a fan of being waited on no matter how sick or injured I am.
