What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
What a day. I ordered some dog food and treats from Chewy and got an email saying that my package had been delivered. These boxes are so heavy and big that I usually have to roll them end over end into the house. Not only are they heavy but I can barely get my arms around the box.

I went out in the scorching heat looking for the package and didn't see it. So I double-checked the time and date on the email and went out again. There was a Chewy box in front of the house across the street and down one. Now there's no way I was going to get it home without some assistance. Sent text to husband asking him to grab it as he would be home from work soon. He called to ask if I was sure it was ours because that house has a big dog too and they get things from Chewy.

So off again I wander out and go look and indeed the box was ours. Husband pulled up but I didn't want to just grab something off the neighbor's porch so I rang the bell. The wife came to the door and assured us it wasn't theirs as they are having their dog euthanized tomorrow. Good lord.

Maybe we were supposed to show up there to offer our sympathy but OMG!

Cleaning my ice maker. I know it needs to be done, but it feels like a totally unproductive way to spend my time.

Saw my doctor today about my CT findings. He referred me to a pulmonologist whom I will be seeing on Wednesday. He did inform me that due to the size and placement of the nodules that if it is malignant the most likely treatment will be surgical resection of portions of my right lung. Good thing I have a spare on the left side, eh?

Doh My dad had a lobectomy in '87 and died in '88. Here's hoping that medicine has improved outcomes since then.  Great

Well that sucks. Might need to stay in the good ole USA for a bit longer than expected this year.

As always, best wishes. Keep us in the loop as much as you're able.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

Do you mind if I ask if he died from the condition that the lobectomy was intended to address?

Doc says treatments after early detection have vastly improved over the last few decades.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm supposed to be in Cozumel next week, and Vallarta the month after that. If I need to return for treatment I will, but I'm also probably going to get a second opinion south of the border.

Don't decide that things are bad.  A good friend (older than me) had a lobe removed then went through some chemo.  The second round was more than she could stand so she stopped.  A year later her tests showed no signs of disease.

A second opinion is almost always a good idea...btw...I feel pretty sure it's what saved me.

After speaking with my doc, I feel a lot better about things, even if the likely worst case comes to pass. I'm taking things one day at a time, focusing on what I need to do, which right now is making sure I know when my next appointment is and advocating for myself.

Nope! He had lung cancer, having smoked from about age 14. His dad died when he was 12, and the family was basically destitute. Damned if I know how he could afford tobacco. The lobectomy removed (I think) all of the cancerous tissue. He died of a stroke, according to the attending physician. And yes, medical treatment for this sort of thing has vastly improved. My youngest brother had laryngeal cancer (also started smoking at age 14) at age 51. Chemo, surgery and radiation. He's a walking (well, shuffling) wreck, 10 years later. Used to be about an 18 month survival rate for that, so hoping for the best medical care for you!
