Keep the key and return the butchered book. I am reminded of a book I bought about 20 years ago, where about 30 pages were repeated, with the correct pages gone. One of the cashiers tried to con me into keeping it as a rare book. Yeah, I don't think so.

My wife surprised me with an early surprise birthday dinner with most of our friends here. We took Uber and were offered a ride home. It rained heavily during dinner, which caused the main road heading home to flood. We were caught in it, fortunately nothing really bad came of it but the car did stall and we got stuck and walked the rest of the way home. I wouldn't have gone that way personally.

So, I returned the book, kept the key, and, as I suspected, HPB does not keep records of who brings in what book, so the trail's stopped cold. At least I got a refund for it. And I bought the new Blu-Ray of Orson Welles' version of The Scottish Play.

Trying to figure out what to pack for this trip. It's still pretty warm here but the night I arrive in Wisconsin the temps there are to be in the 40s. Figuring out how to pack for temps ranging from 40 to 90. And it's not like I have a lot of things to wear for those 40 degree temps. I guess there will be a lot of layering going on...I will add layers as I head north and remove on the way back.
