Coffee and the news. I went to bed early, and fell asleep watching the game. But then I woke up at 2 A.M. and couldn't get back to sleep. I took trazodone, but it only made me drowsy, it didn't bring on sleep.

Looking at buying a second vacuum sealer. I like my current one for bulk packaging of food for freezing, but it's a bit bulky to pull out for preparing a couple items for sous vide of an evening. There's a nice looking compact model that sells for $30 on sale as used, like new, for $22.55. The only drawback is the cord for it plugs into the middle of the back of the unit, which would limit where it could be placed if I wanted to leave it out on the counter permanently. Given that I just bought the inexpensive hand-operated vacuum sealing kit, it seems like a bit of extravagance. It may be. My weakness in life is rushing into things because of FOMO, so I'll have to give this a little thought before I take the plunge. There's a nice bonus in that the unit can be used with my current hand-held unit bags using an included adapter tube.

Getting a late start on dinner. I was planning to eat an hour later than usual, and I'm 20 minutes behind that.

Whoah. Toronto scored four runs while I was busy with dinner. They were down two runs when I started.

I went to bed after the ninth inning last night. I read today that they went to 18 innings. I'm glad I wasn't foolish enough to stay till the end.

Tracking my package. Even the store is here in the country, the item is being shipped from China.

I ordered a couple of DVDs from Japan a couple of months back. It was shipped via Japan Post, but the shipper didn't provide any tracking nor indicate which service would be doing the shipping. Amazon could make no sense of the information provided by the seller. So I was left with no information other than that it would be delivered sometime in October. Fortunately, USPS handled the final mile service and it required a signature for delivery, so it worked out fine, but I had plenty of cause to suspect that it wouldn't.

I’ve settled on two parts Tung oil, one part carnauba wax, and one-half part white spirit. Looks great on shedua, but terrible on white oak.
