Booted up the old PC.  It even still had a working copy of Windows on it.  And I even correctly guessed the password!

Sealed up my new gaming computer. I need to swap the HDMI cable from that I've been using for testing to its permanent cable. And I intend to add an external hard disk. But otherwise it's basically complete.

Successfully cross-flashed the controller I was working on. Last night, I thought I had screwed the pooch and bricked a $20 card. But I returned to the problem this morning and was able to work the problem through.

The negative last night, besides believing I'd bricked the card, was pulling the motherboard from my old file server, but being unable to get it to boot successfully.

Just worked out the same maths problem two different ways and got the same answer both times.

That never happens.

Morning exercise. I was upset about the computer stuff last night and so I didn't eat dinner. So it's been almost 24 hours since I've eaten.

HumanistsMN hosts a coffee and current events meetup every month. I thought it was the second Tuesday of the month, in which case I'd have misssed it, but it looks like it's tomorrow morning.

Getting all the final cables in my new computer plugged in.  The case fan hub is in an inappropriate header -- CPU_FAN_OPT -- for the case fans, but it will suffice for now.  I have an extra fan extension cable, red, that I can use while waiting for the black ones.

And I went to install Windows and the PC hung at the twirling circle at the beginning.  The light on the USB drive was lit solid.  Either a defective USB drive or a bad image creation.  I redid things with Rufus and a different flash drive and that appears to have cured it.

I'm wondering if Angrboda had to mortgage the house in order to afford RAM for the new PC.

The memory wasn't the worst of it. I had to cough up a lung to pay for the graphics card.

Reading an obituary that just rolled up on my Facebook newsfeed. From 1939 and it's my great grandfather. I didn't realize how much one of my uncles looks like him. It's funny to read the comments as people think he was my grandfather and married to my grandmother (they obviously knew her as they used a nickname only used by people very close to the family.) Generations are all blurred in people's memories.

My other uncle shares his name...everyone is confused. And that's how history gets warped out of line with the truth.
