What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Practicing inserting a spare CPU in a spare motherboard before I install the actual CPU on the intended motherboard. I think I may spend an hour practicing before I do the real thing. Just now, out of about a dozen or so attempts, I dropped the CPU a bit so that it ended up off-center. I need to iron out my technique so that doesn't happen. The main issue is that I grip one side of the CPU with the left edge of my palm due to the lack of fingers. The bulk of my pal then gets in the way while trying to lower that edge of the CPU down to the socket as it hits against components and/or the CPU pressure plate frame. I have to let it plop a little bit, but it needs to be well-aligned before I let it fall, otherwise it lands a little misaligned.

I haven't watched any baseball today. I must be ill.

The CPU and motherboard combo I bought at Micro Center last week boots fine. I was going to wait until tomorrow to do the risky part, installing the CPU, but I cleared my afternoon schedule and did it today.

Installing the 32 GB RGB RAM kit. it took some rooting around to find the SPD settings but it's now booting to BIOS at 6000/Mts. I must say that I preferred the BIOS on the Asus boards. Maybe once my credit cards are paid off I'll move back to Asus.

Watching baseball. I'm feeling a bit punky, so I'll make dinner after the game.

Finishing my big Anglotopia article on My Fair Lady. Hopefully it gets published soon.

I really like that film, but I think they made a mistake in not having Julie Andrews reprise the role of Eliza Doolittle. She was every bit the actress Audrey Hepburn was and a better singer than Marni Nixon.

Spent the afternoon reinstalling Windows on the new system. The USB keyboard kept dropping at the Windows login prompt for some reason.

Tomorrow I'll set up a Windows / Bazzite dual-boot on the primary NVME SSD.

Yep. It's a shame that Jack Warner was so intent on trying to maximise the profits for a film that should have already been super-profitable anyway that he insisted on recasting someone who didn't need to be recast.

He would have even recast Rex Harrison if more bankable actors didn't refuse out of solidarity with him.

Warner’s reasoning appears to have been that Andrews wasn’t bankable because she had never before appeared in a motion picture. He must have felt a right charlie when her first film the same year (Mary Poppins) grossed 20 times its budget. How THAT for bankable, Jack?
