In issues unrelated to our recent outage: we've been having issues with internet outages. Something to understand: until a few hours ago, I assumed that the last time we had issues with it (between 2018 and 2021), Dad was just in denial about it, especially since whenever I brought the issue to his attention, all he'd say is "let's keep an eye on it."

So, when I started noticing issues with it a month or two ago, I decided "Dad'll figure it out on his own time." This time around, he's more obviously proactive about it. And after I told him that I had noticed issues for longer, and held off from telling him because it took him 3 1/2 years to do anything about it the last time, he explained that he was actually on the issue for longer than I had thought and should have been more transparent than saying "let's keep an eye on it" for three years.

And since I posted this to AD while we were out, I may as well post this again:

Decided to try and design what I’d consider the perfect electric guitar: one that’s comfortable to play, has as few design issues as possible, and a fuck ton of tone options on tap (1080, to be precise). Here’s my current design:



Used Haloguitars' design configulrator to create it (plus a liberal amount of the touch-up tool on my iPad for the details that I couldn't configure there). Yes, I started with a Strat despite Fender's recent litigiousness, and yes, I made this model left-handed because I play it Albert King-style. And the text explains crucial details that wouldn't be clear from just looking at it, like the Jag-Style pickup voicing switches, the specific pickups chosen, and this tone control:

Clearing off the tops of the living room cabinets to make room for a NAS and a router. Redoing my router and network layout to create a 2.5GigE LAN and a VPN protected Wiffi network.

I managed to get my secondary router set up and connected to my VPN. I'm a little leery of connecting to MLB.TV but it seems to be configured and working properly for me to do so.

Moving the VPN enabled router into its final resting place. Once I actually hooked up the ethernet cable, it connected to the VPN without any further intervention. I've got a bunch of cables to move but the tricky part is done.
