That's because you are a fuckhead who thinks that smashing babies against a wall is okay as long as your fucking sly-daddy does it. This is the very gist of your problem, Drippy. You make excuses for your "god" because he is "god" but he exists only in your own benighted little mind.

The problem is there are other fuckheads who think they'll give "god" a helping hand by killing a few babies for him.

Ehrman is correct. The whole bloody mess has to go in order for humanity to mature. A lot of us have outgrown your absurd need for a "god." Time for you to catch up.

Even if this "Ask, Seek and Knock" thing was valid, that's not how searching for knowledge works. First you would have to Seek the person before you could possibly Knock on his door and Ask. How else could you even know that the person exists or where his door is? In other words, it's that favourite little con trick of the neo-fundy: presuppositionalism, making its umpteenth showing in this thread alone.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

What's more apparent is that you have a hole in your understanding of reality, and you've taken it upon yourself to fill that hole with God.

Whether or not the hole is God shaped seems to be irrelevent to you, as you seem to have no problem forcing it in, even when it doesn't fit.

Thinking

Indeed, but what motivates one to seek that which has no sign of existing in the first place?

Ask/ (Who or What exactly?)

/Seek/ (Why, and Seek what?)

/Knock (What the fuck are you talking about?)

The whole concept is intellectually bankrupt.

That's why I used that other fundy favourite, the 'if' qualifier. To complete the process: if the A/S/K thing is not valid, the whole structure collapses into its own footprint - or disappears up its own arse, whichever image is more satisfying. Wink

Good grief - is that what it means? I wasn't sure and I didn't feeling comfortable a/s/king.

Actually I am quite relieved. Listening to some of the theists on here I assumed is meant:

Aim the Gun.
Squeeze the trigger.
Kill the atheist.

You know - in the best traditions of Christianity....

Ask/Seek/Knock as out lined in luke 11:
5 And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? 8 I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs. 9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread[d] from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

If you receive the Holy Spirit/If you receive a measure of God to indewell you. What better proof of God than God Himself?

Drich, I've heard this method before....many times...from relatives

They tell me that it does work.

Problem is ..............................they're.. MORMONS

WHAT UP WITH THAT?????

How are my heretic/cultist (according to my other protestant relatives....when no mormons are around>>hehehehe) tuning in to your lord and savior???

Does jesus have a split personality???

Is jesus working both sides of the street???

ALSO: could you reply to my post #80 in the "How stupid do you have to be thread..".

thanks

Do we need to continue showing how Bart erhman book fails, or are we done?

You were done when you started, asshole. Clearly the book is far beyond your limited mentality.

True, Ehrman was writing for the layman. But he was not writing for flaming shitheads like you.
