Where did the "Holey Spirit" come from?

(This post was last modified: September 15, 2013 at 6:31 pm by Brakeman.)
While christians argue all day long with the jews over the "Messiah" jebus, why do we not hear much about how the holy spook came about? Who did the holy spook used to be? Most ghosts described in literature were once human. Who is he apart from the whispering in a xtian's ear? So was the holy spirit like Casper the friendly ghost? What is the need for him in this plan? Can god and jebus not talk to their mind slaves without the holly ghost waving sheets around??
Was his coming presence foretold in the Pentateuch?

Oh! I think I know this. Or... I knew this!
It had something to do with Mithraism or another ancient religion which had a similar concept and christianity copied it.
Or something like that.
Sorry fore the vague answere but I learned those things almoust 7 years ago in highschool so I cant really recollect them that much.

Is that what they meant by the "Burning bush?" I thought it was a euphemism for particularly nasty case of an STD that Moses had.

It was a Jewish concept originally they have fancy Hebrew name for it. They never believed in a Trinity though it's kind of like a thing.

Thanks! Any other keywords to help my search for this?
I would also bet that the Jews don't think that you have to be baptized in jesus' name in order to talk to their holy spirit as spelled out in Acts 19.
I'll look into this..

God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit have always been all three are in the 1st three chapters of Genesis. The Holy Spirit is mentioned several times in the OT.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

The funny thing is that the bible says that the one unforgivable sin is not blaspheming God, not blaspheming Jesus, but blaspheming the Holy Spirit. You can make up with God or Jesus, but apparently the Holy Spirit holds grudges.
