survival of the fittest. every animal must kill another to survive. therefore, thou shalt not kill is bad advice.

the only escape from the brutality of life is to love another and start a family.

therefore, your catholic leaders are evil people with no love in their heart, selfish people who only love themselves, and do nothing but wait for others to kill.

But, it's none of my business. I just got into a fight with a friend of mine who was raised Catholic so I thought of all these mean things I could say to him.

"You have no respect for love, so evolution will eventually take its toll and all Catholics will eventually become less attractive. Oh my, it's already taking affect, look at how short and skinny you are, that's no kind of man at all!"

See how fun evolution is? Want to one up someone? "I'm the next step in evolution. Kneel before me as if I were your Queen. But I'm not a bee, so feel free to ignore me as if I never existed at all."

The most spirituality I ever got in my house was meditation, regarded as a mental and body exercise, so I don't empathize with your conflict.

The Weather Channel never remarks about the sun when it rises in the east, and scientific journals have nothing to say about water being wet. For the same reason, Christians becoming atheists is almost never a newsworthy story.

The sun does not rise in the east.

I suppose you believe that the sun revolves around the Earth.

Max, have you heard about how many Irish Catholics have renounced their faith in recent years?

http://www.irishcentral.com/news/20-perc...86881.html

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/08...57453.html

http://www.irishleftreview.org/2013/03/1...ic-church/

Not news worthy however as it's so common. One of the most catholic states in all the world is seeing levels of adherence drop year year on year.

Gutted.

Do you know how many churches here in the U.S. have closed due to lack of attendance? The church I went to as a kid is now closed. In Europe it's worse. Remember when one of the last two popes (don't remember if it was JPII or Palpatine) who said that increasing secularism and decreasing church attendance is a major concern?

One or two atheists becoming religious doesn't negate the fact that in many parts of the world, people are finding less and less use for religion.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Relative to wherever I've stood on it, it certainly does. I can't make claims about whatever Catholic fantasyland you live in.

I'm a Catholic who became an atheist, same as my brother.

Funny how this sort of thing only gets attention in one direction. Thinking
What falls away is always, and is near.

Also, I am not pretending to be female, this profile picture is my wonderful girlfriend. XD

I'm not in the 'burn Max' camp (ouch!), but you would have to be very impaired to honestly suppose that.

Then when I'm bored of that I deconvert, bash out a couple more books and then get a couple of gigs talking about how I went from preacher to atheist or whatever.

The Church of the Yogage would be willing to help you in this.

If you really must go for one the traditional form of Christianity I'd strongly recommend Eastern Orthodoxy which doesn't have all the corruption and a very human Pope who claims to have infallibility.
Come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant.
