Because it makes him uncomfortable.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

(October 2, 2013 at 2:47 pm)Doubting Thomas Wrote: So basically what you're saying, Drich, is that somehow these ancient men who were little smarter than cave men found out how to make bricks out of some material which would stand up to the incredible weight of 30 stories of other bricks on top of them without collapsing? Do you think the makers of Roman cement are any smarter than the guys who's current life's work is making bricks/building materials now? Or is it possible that the makers of Roman cement had access to materials we don't? Why is it so hard to believe these men may have had access to materials that would support their endeavor? Because it's the same as saying medeival knights had bullet-proof armor but forgot how to build it as time went on. Thinking that ancient people knew things more advanced than we know today just isn't logical. Some things were forgotten over time, true, but not the important stuff.

None of the authors of any of the books knew anything about modern physics (and apparently neither do you). You are simply trying to take the only remaining theoretical possibility for your fictional heaven to exist in any way. Additional dimensions in reality are just that "ADDITIONAL." For them to exist in one dimension, they cannot have two additional identical dimensions. For instance, when x=1 y cannot equal both 3 and 7. Boiled down, you exist in this dimension as a 3d+T construct (x,y,z & TV (time/velocity)) in reality, but only in this dimension do you exist as this construct. There is no other dimension where you have the qualities of xyztv. The gold of heaven can only exist in the 3d&vt realm that we live in. There is no modern accepted physical theory in which to hide your heaven's gold, rubies, and emeralds.

I heard it's out east of Fresno.

(October 2, 2013 at 12:46 pm)Drich Wrote: Again How do you know what building material they used? Nope! Wrong, wrong, wrong. Roman concrete wasn't famous for it's strength, but rather it's durability to the elements. Strength wise, it's weaker than anything you can buy at Homedepot. Here's a good link about the qualities of roman concrete vs modern concrete. http://simplesupports.wordpress.com/2013...-concrete/ Really, your stance is silly, anyone with a toy microscope can see what makes up any particular concrete. An aggregate cannot exceed the compressive strength of its constituents and volcanic rock is exceedingly weak when compared to granites and the like. the pyramids are basically a heap of rocks and not a building per se. While one could build a huge pile of bricks, the math gets in the way really quickly. (1/2 base x H) each additional story comes at greater and greater costs of time and material. When you get to 30 to 50 stories high you have a mountain of man-made material that we would have to know about. But alas, there are no man-made mountains that could be your fable's Babel tower. You are stretching and clawing like a madman to justify your irrational position.
