I thought the memorial was for the first-responders who found inspiration from the cross-shaped debris or who died in their service. The cross at ground zero may have been specific to Christianity but it was also part of the history of the site and an important image (like the falling man) from those events.

So, like, how do you know the cross was arranged there for that? The original one, I mean; the debris that fell into that particular shape? There's no context to that "message" beyond what you put on it. It's entirely possible that your god arranged that as a sign that he approved of what happened to the people in those towers; how would you know? Do you presume to speak for god?

Just one more reason it's best to just have a neutral memorial.

Like filing a lawsuit because someone puts up a cross.

And the moment the atheists who filed the lawsuit try to violate the separation of church and state, you'll have a point. Until then, you clearly don't know what hypocrisy is.
