Reading the bible

RE: Reading the bible
Ugh yes, and the text size makes my eyes tired to boot >_< It just isn't worth reading the Gideon's Bible... much better to enjoy hiding it than to get frustrated trying to read it Smile

RE: Reading the bible
I agree with both of you bible reading is f*cking torture. Chronologies that don't make sense with history. Geneologies that contradict each other and the lame stories that are passed off as historical facts are quite boring. When I read the bible in its entirety I did so four times 3x in English and 1x in Spanish. It was actually reading the bible that pushed me away from Christianity simply because there is nothing I hate more than a tyrant and the god of the bible fits this bill to a tee.

RE: Reading the bible
I've actually noticed a lot of testimonials about Christians (or Jews) who pick up the Bible after years of being religious, start seriously reading through it, and abandon their faith as a result.

RE: Reading the bible
The irony about my story meatball is that it was my pastors suggestion during a sermon that every Christian should read the bible at least once in its entirety at least once in their lives. I took this challenge seriously and after following his instructions I became an atheist.

RE: Reading the bible
I thought it was hilarious since I am good at catching contradictions and asking critical questions. Reading the bible just brought up more questions than answers for me and the books vague answers were not sufficient enough to satisfy my curiosities.
