We've had philosophers for ten thousand years?

Seems like it.

Boring twats.

What if the darkness was metaphorical and the fire was literal? Whatever floats your boat, right?

Or perhaps you're an idiot.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I love it when they break out 'heathen'.

As for your problem with the 'outer darkness' and the fire producing light. Dark fire shouldn't be a problem for your magic man that bends the very cosmos to his will should it?

Me too. I always get this mental image of, say, Stephen Hawking making a presentation to the Royal Society about the Great Pumpkin or whatever, and getting all butthurt and cranky when they all laugh at him. Just a suggestion, SoC, but maybe - just maybe - it's not the rest of reality that's out of step with you.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Fire and darkness together at the same time would have to be metaphorical like I said.

*breaks down* You're right! sob! I've been ignoring God and Jesus my whole life! sniff Oh how rotten a person I've been for making myself pretend to not believe in God when the evidence was there all along! sob! How foolish I've been! If only God could see his way to save a poor, evil heathen like me! sniff Come into my heart, Lord Jesus!

Psych! Sorry, but no Touched By An Angel/Chick tract scene is gonna happen here. I gave 30 years of my life lying to myself and worshiping a nonexistent deity, and I just don't have time for that any more.

I use it as a term of endearment for people like yourself. A group of atheists together will be a heathen horde, a small group is a heathen band.

The laws of physics were bent to his will to begin with, he made them. Who do you think made them? Or did they make themselves?

Did he also make the laws of logic "according to his will" ?

Are you really about to initiate the 'God made everything' circle jerk?

Ah well, too late now.

Give me evidence, give me real hard empirical evidence that your magic man created the laws of physics or I will continue to attribute them to rational explanations that science has provided for generations.

And for the love of humanity if you quote your damn book to me I'm going to lose it.
