You might be the first christian I've spoken to who has ever admitted that. Tongue

It depends on what your criteria for excluding others is. If someone wants to start a forum that doesn't allow Jews, I will feel free to point, laugh, and ridicule them for being a dumbass. Such is the price for being a bigot.

You have to bear in mind that most Christians are traditionalists and are still stuck in the 1950's mentality. They will catch up eventually dragging their feet along.

Yes it does condemn it in the Bible there aren't Christians or Jews who do everything God is said to have instructed them to do, which is a good thing.

No it's not cherry picking it's called historical context. If our morality and values have improved over the centuries, and they certainly have overall, then we have achieved this through our relationship with God the source of all things who loves all people equally.
Come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant.

So what you're saying is that your deity, who as the story goes had no problem killing nearly every living thing on the planet for failing to meet his expectations, allowed man to set his own standard of morality commensurate with contemporary values?

Seriously?

I have 2 male parakeets (budgies). They hump each other all day long. I've tried to tell them that god doesn't like it, it's unnatural, and it will harm society, but they just keep banging away.

But it's my fault- there used to be a red bell in the cage that they humped, but I got tired of "ding, ding, ding!" all day long, so I took the bell. Then they discovered each other.

Interesting - are you comparing gays to animals who can't control their urges?

So you're saying that certain biblical commandments were immoral, but commanded by god due to the context of the time? The same god who happily turned Lot's wife into a pillar of salt for disobeying him in the most piffling of ways, damn near committed omnicide over perceived immorality, and is apparently the giver of objective moral laws?

That god needed to take into account the realities of the people around him? And somehow, all the moral improvements since then are also his doing, because you say so? And despite the fact that this god never bothered to correct the people- equally adamant that they were doing his will- that fought tooth and nail against those moral improvements, all in his name? Seriously?

Humans are animals with sexual needs. And I see no reason for anyone to control sexual urges as long as everybody involved is a consenting adult. It doesn't bother me that my keets are having a good sex life (it was the damned bell that bothered me- I've never understood the appeal of sex toys). And it doesn't bother me if people have good sex lives. Denying yourself sexual happiness is a sad thing.

Are you saying that my parakeets are offensive to god? They're so cute when they do it- little fluffy pastel bundles of humping happiness. God must be a persnickety sort.

I do. I'm married, and I don't think I should have sex with anyone but my wife. Doesn't matter if they're willing.
