The Pope is such a nice guy

I think that's fucking awesome.

I thought I made my sentiments clear.

I don't think it's awesome at all. I think it's pretty damn hypocritical for a guy to sit there and tell people to donate money to an organisation that clearly has too much, when he is sitting on thousands worth himself.

Angry

This kind of shit makes me angry.

It's a troll. They thrive on stirring angst and causing dissensions. Let it go.

Alright, I get that it's the Catholic Church and they're evil and all that. But for fuck's sake, Francis has been the most liberal, most true-to-Christian-value Pope in decades. The guy is everything the other twats before him weren't. He's given up all the golden and majorly expensive "Pope gear", as I like to call the things he wears and sits in. He's forwarding all of the Vatican's staff's bonuses to charity (which totals to $7.8 million. An obnoxious amount of money, which is why it no longer goes to anybody). He's done more than this, but this is what I know off the top of my head.

I like the guy. He's probably the best kind of Pope you could ask for from the Catholic Church. And the dude rides Harleys. Badass.

The Protestants were right not to elect popes who would aspire to the likes of a king:

I understand why Catholics might want to designate a special look for the leader and man under god, but did a gold-and-jewels obsession push them on the path to their "mission statement"? It certainly proves their wealth.

I get it. Compared to previous popes he does look like a genuine saint. It's pretty cool he's donated the staff's bonuses, it's pretty cool he's given up the golden pope gear, it's pretty cool he's more "liberal" than previous popes. It still doesn't address the fact that the catholic church sits on billions worth of artwork, land and architecture, that could be used to genuinely help fund things like the logistics issues involved with world poverty, or the scientific pursuits of solving the world energy crisis. Saying he donated a few million and that he's more liberal, and he sold a motorcycle sounds all well and good. I just can't get my head around the fact that it's pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things. When people talk like this guy's so great, it just makes me want to heave in all honesty.

Idealistically, everyone would love if what you wanted happened. But it just isn't, not right now anyway. Francis is probably the best kind of Pope for the Catholic Church right now, realistically speaking. That's why I appreciate him.
