You have to find for yourself reasons that life is worth living. This. Leo, one thing I have learned is that everyone finds their own happiness their own way. Some find it in drugs, or weed, or booze, or work, or video games, art, writing, music... I find happiness in all these things. But most of all, in helping others. I don't mind admitting I help others and provide charity for a selfish reason. That selfish reason? It makes me feel good. It makes me feel great. I don't need to do it, I want to do it. There is nothing in the world that can make me feel happier than seeing the weight of the most intense psychological burdens lifted from the shoulders of those I aim to help. Nothing like seeing the haunted void in their eyes fade away, replaced by the glimmer of strength and determination. Human nature is hard-coded to bring happiness to us when we help others. It is our very nature to do good by others. Morality precedes religion. Religion has such a powerful influence because it tells us that we are doing good, without having to ever actually do anything good. We can cling to the idea and we can fool ourselves into thinking we're doing good when all we're doing is lying our way into being a bunch of selfish, morally-lazy species-destroying ass-shits. Volunteer. Provide aid for others. If you cannot find meaning in your own life, give meaning to others. You may find yourself suddenly finding you really do have meaning in your life once again.
Do you wish to kill yourself?
No? What is in your life that stops you from killing yourself? That is the meaning of your life. Go with that. If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71. |
