Challenge to atheists: I find your lack of faith disturbing!
RE: Challenge to atheists: I find your lack of faith disturbing!
Why is it that so much credit is posited on these writings?
So someone wrote something about a Jesus fellow somewhere in the first century... so what?
In the early 21st century someone wrote about a fellow called Harry Potter, who lived in a very real city... does that make him real?

You know why Jesus is so often compared to Harry Pottery?
- writings concerning both claim they possessed magical powers.
- writings concerning both are from some 3rd person, witnessing, but not taking part... or not taking a relevant part.
- writings concerning both have references to actual real places, from the time they were written.
- writings concerning both claim the fulfillment of some prophecy.

My point being... just because someone wrote about the guy, doesn't mean the guy actually existed.
Even if the guy existed, it doesn't mean the guy did half of what's written about him...
Even if the guy did do some amazing things, it doesn't mean there was a god pulling the strings.

Finally, if the guy did some extraordinary things at that particular place, at that particular time (with all the dead rising and all), how come most of the population remained jew?

@Optimistic Mysanthrope

There's plenty of hard datable evidence for the Bible as well, for instance the Caiaphas ossuary or the James Ossuary. Luke 3:1: "In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene," an inscription dated c. 14-29 A.D confirms Lysanias and his title. And there are many other examples of hard external evidence for names and places in the NT texts.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

Well, to be fair, hieroglyphics are still around. As are cave drawings.

You only have ONE author of Harry Potter - J K Rowling. You have at least 8 different authors of the NT books, if they were all making it up as they went along then there would be no harmony between their accounts, and they would contradict each other.

Aren't you forgetting the more realistic version written by Steve Kloves and Michael Goldenberg?

Um, they do contradict each other in various places

Having different accounts is not the same thing as having a contradiction ya know.

What if those accounts directly contradict each other?

Most remained jew? Whose blind here? You mean how did Christianity spread to every corner of the earth in a few hundred years after, and even topple the roman empires idol worship, having the emperor convert to Christianity and finally legislate religious tolerance? You mean that religion? how's come? Duh, maybe it's just smoke and mirrors. Wow.
