I have seen this from both men rights activists and feminist activists. It is pretty sad if you ask me.

Any ideology based on sex is, if you ask me, pretty sad in itself. Not just sad, but its also completely irrelevant to what is really important. It serves not to unite, but to fracture, it serves not to create equality.
There was a time when feminism was something with a purely political agenda. Today, it has no agenda, only empty talking and empty words behind it.

For anyone interested: the new birth control technology is called Vasalgel, and it seems to currently be under private development, although it looks a little suspicious.

Here's a paper on the technology.

It's a refinement of a procedure that's been in human trials in India for a while called RISUG.

It IS a shot in the testes, but it looks like it can last 10+ years, is 100% (!) effective, and is 100% reversible. Too good to be true?

I don't like the 'shot in the testes' aspect of it, maybe if they could come up with a different delivery system. I'm not sure if you are aware of this but us guys are quite sensitive down there!!

I have seen what happens when men sit down wrong- I feel very sorry for all of you XYs for having guts outside your body (now THAT'S inequality. All my guts are inside where guts belong. Blame the designer.Tongue).

But the gel has to get into the vas deferens, so I'm not sure how else they'd get it there. It's a one-time shot- will men REALLY turn down something that looks this good because of the needle?

Its not the needle, its where it goes. I would be happy to have it done almost anywhere else than my nuts

In looking at the emergence of many political movements, one must ask what has occurred to create it.

With feminism, it was a culture that derided women in the work place. A culture that saw no issue with unwarranted touching and lack of subsidization for ingrained health issues.

With the men's rights movement, it has started off with parental inequity in Family court and inequity in punishments for crimes handed down.

Consider how many men are sentenced to long prison terms and even death. Now consider how many women, for similar crimes, receive comparable sentences.

You'll find it starkly different to the point that it is a media circus to sentence a woman to death for a crime a man would be condemned to.

That is inequity.

Another topic: male suicide. If the genders are oh-so-equal, why is it that males are more prone to attempt and successfully commit suicide?

Feminism gave us many good things. It also gave us Andrea Dworkin and the Third wave.

Men's Rights has given us notice that there is a problem. It also, unfortunately, has given us polarizing figures like Paul Elam.

Those who discount the issues either gender faces within our culture are, well, human shit.

Discounting Men's Rights and calling yourself a feminist is to ignore the very fabric that brought us feminism.

Inequity. Pure and simple.

I am proud to state I am egalitarian. I support elements of Men's Rights and I support elements of Feminism.

We all deserve a chance to prove ourselves through our actions, not immutable attributes.

There's areas where some of this is desperately needed. Reproductive rights are a big one: If they're so sacred how come only she gets them? I don't acknowledge a woman's right to abort my child without my permission, and I don't care how politically incorrect that is. Up until the kid is born, its "just a part of her body" and she can do what she wants. But afterwards its suddenly my kid too, and there's no way for me to get out of it if thats my preference. Even if I later find out she cheated on me and the kid wasn't mine the law won't do anything about it. The hypocrisy blows my mind and I have every right to be extremely angry about it.

As a straight male, I've found that lesbians often make good friends because there's never the sexual tension thats present with most women. It allows me to be around you yet actually be myself. Lesbians can be refreshing because with straight or bisexual women, I always have to wear a certain face.

"For every action there is an equal and opposed reaction" <-- Although this comes from Physics, it also applies to fundamentalists. In every grouping of people or ideology there are always some that are prone to fundamentalism and when these push in, there are always others ready to push back. There are many feminist ideas that have merit, same with many MRM ideas. In both these groups there are some that tend to take it too far, resulting in the same happening to the other group, creating a kind of "us VS them" bipolarization of stances. When this turns into hate, the old adage applies:"hate generates more hate".

Now, I'm with Tiberius, I'm egalitarian, I rather prefer to come to an understanding than to polarize my position, that IMO it has been the root of the problem all along.

Moror, I could not agree more, I stated this on page 4 but got down out by other posts. I think equality should be strived for, and over be the end goal.
