I think the reason you're so stubborn about the whole situation is to protect your beliefs, and the fact that said beliefs were used to justify the enslavement of thousands of innocent people strictly because of the color of their skin. Denying to support such beliefs means you don't agree with the word of our lord n saviur jezus. Agreeing with what's in the bible, in this case, slavery, reveals your character. The point is simply that if blacks can become police officers despite police officers harassing blacks, or if someone can own a gun despite getting shot by a gun, then one can (in theory) be a religious adherent despite the religious belief being used or misused to harm them.

Suffice to say that I don't think all slavery is on par with American slavery in conduct or ethics.
