Of course Buddha existed.

Anyone who reaches enlightenment is Buddha, there has been more than one and there will be many more.

You do realise Buddha isn't a god don't you? Buddha is who all buddhists aspire to become after any number of reincarnations.

I don't accept Buddhism as a truth but I do respect their right to claim a Buddha meeting their terms of Buddha has existed.
