What? You're OK with it but people who commit these acts should be "tracked down"? How does that many any sense? Do you think it should be illegal?

I am 'okay?' with it only because it helps track down the monsters who commit the crime... I do not think it should even exist as more than a mental dream (if that). So I think child pornography should be illegal (insomuch as pornography with any creature that cannot fully be held accountable for their actions)... but that better circulating the material makes it easier to locate the perpetrators of the crime.

Is there anything wrong with 'viewing' the act though? After all... i can 'view' it with my vivid imagination quite easily... I do not think the material should be restricted any more than any other 'type' of porn.

It was a direct response to the OP's statement that there should be no laws dictating what we can and cannot view. If he truly feels this way, he should have no qualms about Wal-mart selling toddler porn in vending machines.

Sure. I don't see the problem (unless you're talking about children in pornographies, then I see the problem).
I mean, I'm just a person, so obviously my opinion is different from everybody else's. But think of it like this:

If children/teens viewing pornography is illegal, neither people who don't care if their child watches it, nor people who care if their child watches it, will let their children view it. It's a win:lose situation.

If children/teens viewing pornography is legal, people who don't care if their child watches it will let them watch it. People who care if their child watches it won't let them watch it. It's a win:win situation.

In the end, there will be parents who say "NO" to it. But really... Have we done an experiment to see is pornography affects us?
Have we? Really?
No, I doubt it. We haven't gather 100 children, allow 50 of them to watch pornography and 50 to not watch it, wait for them to grow up with these same allowances and then gather the results. So we just don't know. Overall, pornography should be allowed to everyone.

Although I disagree with the win:lose / win:win thing... I think it should be added that people can 'imagine' pornography at any time (don't you guys masturbate?)... so you aren't keeping anything from people by making it 'harder' to obtain it.

... Well, I guess it would tone down the amount of rape from child molesters, but I don't think I'd want my child having sex in a pornography. ._. Viewing it, perhaps... Having sex as a teenager, perhaps... As long as it's safe... But as a child, 12 or under, having sex? Nononononononononono...

My logic is like this: Murder is wrong... i am against it. Is watching a murder wrong?
Child pornography is wrong... i am against it. Is watching child pornography wrong?

I'm drawing a parallel there... because i think it is the action of doing something that is 'right' or 'wrong'... not witnessing the final product.

You would need to desensitize yourself to it to be able to watch it and not know your moral position.

So watching is never divorced from acting.

I can easily watch something I condemn... but I can't separate it from my emotions For example, watching a rape video makes me curl my first up like an enraged little imp. I think it is entirely different to witness something than it is to participate in something. Witnessing something, and remaining silent on the other hand: that is a horrible crime in itself, for you are knowingly allowing the perpetrator to run free.

But just watching something isn't bad in itself
