I'm always fascinated when theists of the DOS and Bill Craig type toss around Dostoevsky via quote-mining. Not sure where in the Christian tradition they'd have picked up a tactic like that... Oh, hey Tertullian.

Would that lead to a moderator booting DOS?

What about the criminals who slaughtered so many because they didn't agree with their specific interpretation of one stupid religion?

You understand the difference between a belief and an action, right? For example I believe you were dropped on your head as a child, but I am not going to actually drop you or anyone else on their head.

Did you just get gayer?

Belief without evidence is nonsense. Action does not make a nonsense belief any less nonsensical. Belief founded on evidence, irrespective of action, is sound.

Ouch. That was so stupid it made my head hurt.
I believe 2+2=4. How do I act on that? And, by your logic, if we don't act on it, basic math has no value, right?

Pay attention to the quote I'm going to provide here. It may come from a religious figure, but it's a quote that still makes sense (it's part of why atheists seem to be less hostile towards Buddhism than they are most religions). In fact, I like the quote so much I put a variation of it in my signature.
"Believe nothing,
No matter where you read it,
Or who has said it,
Not even if I have said it,
Unless it agrees with your own reason
And your own common sense."

Is that from the Kalama Sutta? If so, no offense, but that's one of the stupidest sutta in all of the Buddhist canon.

I'm not sure exactly where it's from. I might be interested in reading the rest, but even if the rest of it is garbage, that line has value.
Personally, I think Buddhism has a lot of value if you look at it philosophically. First you need to cut out all the super natural mumbo jumto, though.

My turn....
"We make up horrors to help us cope with the real ones" ... Stephen King
"The darkness is coming" ... Smaug
"One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad." ... Sheldon Cooper
