Please share you favorite winter holiday music here.
I'm sure this has been done before but this is now. I know lots of my fellow atheists still celebrate 'Christmas' or Hannukah in a secular way with their kids. We have family to dinner Christmas eve and other family over for stockings (w/ little gifts and goodies) and a traditional Christmas morning breakfast the next day. But I'm already playing holiday music.

In fact I have a collection of my favorites. It is all about nostalgia I suppose and emotional atmosphere. I have an instrumental version of this Jewish song, Bashanah, that I like better but can't find it on youtube.

But I have many more Christmas songs of course since I grew up in that culture. So naturally I have much more of that. This is one of the better contemporary adaptions I think. (Well, contemporary from my point of view admittedly.)

And here is another with an even more contemporary feel done acapella.

So what do you have? Looking for obscure pearls as well as fine old chestnuts here. Surprise me.

Weird Al rarely disappoints. Meanwhile, back to the nostalgia.

At the moment, Chisato Moritaka's "Peachberry" CD. Not particularly festive, but very comforting.

itunes doesn't have that yet. But I did listen to a few of hers. No immediate conversion, the way Puffy Ami Yumi reached out and grabbed me right away.

Okay, I'm determined to keep bouncing this thread back up into view until I get some real holiday music to listen to. The longer you wait the more good stuff I'm going to lay claim to first. Okay, lets go see what else I can find on youtube.

Mannheim's "Hark!..." has been stuck in my head all afternoon. I like it, but I like their version of Good King Wenceslas the best.

I like this song, mostly because I had to memorize it for a school play, but I almost never hear it.

Not sure this one qualifies, but I love it, and it's one of my favorite "holiday" songs.

Well you can't very well go wrong with Simon and Garfunckel. It does have that sincerity vibe. I like a couple by Bob Dylan from the New Morning album including Winterlude, Three Angels. and Father of Night.

The Corey Taylor piece is one I'll have to down load and have ready for certain family members. Very useful.
