In my line of work I occasionally have contact with high functioning autistics. They are fantastically intelligent in many ways, completely incapable in others...

All us atheists are is less blinded by woo.
There have been several theists on here who I would say were very intelligent but often used that intelligence to blind themselves.
Arcanus springs to mind and I have much respect for Rayaan of course.
A lot of them do seem to have the wit of retarded slugs though.

I have a feeling that it's more of a case of blind spots than raw difference in IQ. I know some studies have indicated such a difference, but it's not that significant in my opinion, and only an average: it shoudln't be that hard to find a theist smarter than a given atheist. However, it doesn't matter how smart they (or we) are if they are trying to reason us into of something that isn't based on reason.

In general, perhaps, though I don't like generalising on such a grand scale.
I prefer to judge the individuals.
I know some very intelligent theists and some dumb-as-fuck atheists.

I would say that atheists are more knowledgeable but on average, no more intelligent than theists

Depends on the atheists/theists.
Many of the theists (a couple Fundies aside) I have met have been some of the most intelligent and logical people I have encountered. On the contrary, many of the atheists I have come across online (as opposed to the rather intelligent atheists I have met offline) have been been quite unintelligent and illogical.
Per the average, an atheist would be more intelligent than a theist as they are more open to discovering new possibilities than someone who believes they have already found it all. That of course is the average and many atheists who post online lower that average, basically acting just like those theists.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.
