I have applied critical arguments to theological approaches to interpretation.

Experience has taught me that when a believer makes that claim I need to be careful not to assume he means the same thing I would, because so far that is seldom the case.

To me,that claim means:

Having grasped the meaning of the word 'evidence'. Understanding the difference between a 'theory and a 'hypothesis and grasping the concept of "the burden of of proof".

Being familiar with some of the more common logical fallacies used by apologists. EG;

Argument from ignorance.

Argument from authority

Argumentum ad populum

The no true Scotsman fallacy (often thinly disguised as 'no true Christian')

Tu quoque.

As you are discussing matters with atheists it's also a good idea to be aware what the word 'atheist' means. A hint; "atheism is NOT a religion,a philosophy,ideology or a political movement.

My apologies if yo are already familiar; I don't know you,so am assuming that like most theists we get here you have little understanding or experience of critical thinking. I don't say that to patronise you, but as an expression of long experience on several atheist forums. I can't really comment on Christian forums as I'm always banned as soon as I start questioning them.

I used to be a frequent poster on Atheist Nation. I'm familiar with the approach and with the arguments. I didn't assume that you patronizing me at all. I thought you were being considerate in giving me advise.

I've been on one supposed Christian forum. You're right. They're like sharks. They can so easily butcher each other on that particular forum. A few posts was enough for me. I haven't been to other Christian forums so I can't honestly speak for all of them.

How long ago? My user name was the same that I'm using here.
I got caught up in something else and didn't post anything for a few months.
I tried to return and the site is in maintanence mode.
Have any of the AN members come to this site?
You have to remember "Stupid Ugly Head ", " Poop Shoot", or "Landon".
I remember the discussions could get pretty wild, especially when " Jesus Freakman12" came into them.
I always had a good time on that site.

Wow. That's pretty tough. I don't know. Nothing completely fits. I am a Fundementalist, but I'm not preachy, I don't wage war on atheists, yet I don't believe in homosexual marriage. I guess I would lean more toward idiotheist, but not quite .

Mm, if you're leaning towards idiotheism, I don't think we'll get along well. I'm very protective of rights and freedom, so please don't try debating with me about homosexuality and I'll try to not debate with it with you (unless you make a thread about it, in which I'll rage onward).
