You're not supposed to agree, silly...
Alright, from a former user standpoint, it is ugly. This guy is supposed to have the kind of access that launches a thousand ships of users, and from my experience, most cannot use, not even once.
Well, I do a lot of things I'm 'not supposed to do'.
Yes, it is a little ugly. Does the show disagree with its promise that said character has said capacity?
Quote:But also, as mentioned, I am utilizing moral relativity to condemn a program of which I do not approve. More realistically, if you're entertained, it is a good show. I simply was not entertained.
I didn't say I approve... but I do condone, and I would not prosecute in most cases. Users can transact how they please, cookers can make whatever the hell they want... as long as they don't weaponize it against nonbuyers, or 'realistically' endanger the lives of nonbuyers. I sense a violet argument blossoming in the fields of this thread.
I think we need to "cut" "The Wire" in this situation to relieve any possible tension.

Maybe...
I was thinking about irrelevant issues, about how disapproval of one thing seems to invite general moralization... I tried to watch the show, but I found it totally boring and completely unrealistic. And since I used to smoke a boatload of meth...
Oh, I agree with you, I see that sort of bootstrapping all over this forum. The 'Church' thread is a good example. Someone says they dislike using the word, 'church,' to describe gatherings of atheists, and that is immediately bootstrapped into, "Oh, you don't think atheists should gather, huh? HUH??" It's pretty funny.
As someone who worked in the criminal justice system for 14 years, I agree with you -- it is not realistic in any way to the actual production or sale of meth. There is nothing sexy or wonderful about that world, not in any way. But we all watch fictional entertainment programs for a lot of different reasons, and obviously few of those have anything to do with reality. Otherwise, no explanation for the popularity of such programs as Walking Dead (I've never seen it) or any of the vampire stuff (I also don't care for/watch).
I wasn't drawn in because it was realistic. But I enjoyed watching how over-the-top they could get with the unintended consequences dealio, and I liked the characters, all flawed in their own ways.

No other show to date compares. A handful are close, but yeah ... Breaking Bad WRECKED tv for me because it was so god damn good.
That is precisely the reaction I had to it. Watching TV after Breaking Bad is like following the world's best steak dinner with a lifetime of McDonald's hamburgers, which kind of sucks because I hardly ever watch TV as it is.

I think it's one of the best TV show ever made. It's so refreshing to have a show that actually has a well thought out beginning and end.

So pretty~, but nah... I'm not pressing the issue too hard (I'm about to start my work).
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day

As I believe that we all may know of the bath salts "zombie" in Miami who reduced the number of homeless people in Florida by a slither, I was thinking a couple days ago...
What if a similar good to bad chemist could start an underground empire of bath salts that would eventually cause an outbreak of "zombie" like people for a temporary period of time. Just a an idea that I'd like to pitch out and see if anyone could possibly add anything to it, or shoot it down and piss on its remains, ( kind of like what happened to the lone gunmen spinoff in the Xfiles).
Speaking of realism in television shows, I know this idea is far off, but any suggestions?comments? Concerns? Any input is greatly valued.

I think realism in tv shows is more dependent on the characters' behaviours than the "facts" of the show. I think X-files feels more realistic than a lot of the cop shows these days, where people seem to parrot off cliches and you can almost predict what is going to happen and what people are going to say. (Especially CSI, what is up with all the puns?) Or you know, those shows where everyone is super dramatic and emotional all the time, real people don't act like that.

I've never seen it. I don't really think it looks that great from the clips I've seen. Does that make me worse than Hitler?

Exactly!
That's what I thought too. It's as if arguments here just blossom out of the ground in a Lilly field with nothing but violet Sunrays live from.
It's inevitable, but a consequence of being super analytical i guess.
