I would think that if your going against a omnipotent Being you either have a reason that makes self sacrifice okay with you or your dumb as a box of rocks.

If I remember my theology rightly, angels were fashioned to be servitors of God. Maybe autonomy isn't their strong suit, and it only took one dumbass to lead a flock of them down the primrose path. Kinda like your average Christian today. (In fairness, the whole bit about angels and the Morning Star was a late development in Judaism, during the apocalyptic period. The first real modern variants of the lore emerges in Maccabees and Enoch.)

Funny how all the supernatural characters in the bible have the character and ethics of late bronze age assholes. I wonder what it means.

He wasn't really all powerful in the old testament, anyway. Being defeated by iron chariots, and having his authority threatened by a tower. Though Satan as a specific person instead of a title didn't really exist in the old testament either.

Yes indeed, these beings supposedly not only knew that god was "real" but had lived with him as a colleague and knew of his power and still rebelled against him.

The jews of Moses again had direct experience of gods power and still rejected him, (golden calf) so I can only conclude that god aint all that.

Yeah, it's kind of odd about Moses' followers. they didn't even wait until after they spent forty years in the desert before they started complaining. Not that I think they should have been killed for breaking a commandment they hadn't received yet, but why would they start complaining about being in the wilderness right after seeing such power for themselves?
