Christianity's god says that we are not worthy without him.

Christianity's god says that we are not worthy without him.
Christianity's god says that we are not worthy without him. Exactly like an abusive relationship, he denigrates us.

Good, loving parents don't do this to their children.

Why can't christians see this glaring problem with their god?

The thing that gets me is that they could have gone the other way. How about Original Grace instead of Original Sin? How about telling kids they must be valuable because God loves them instead of they're valuable because God loves them?

There's no good reason for Christians not to tell their children they're kind and good and beautiful and deserve to be loved. A fair number of Christians do, so I don't buy that children being born worthless is a necessary part of their religion.

I'm not going play your game of feigned ignorance. You are definitely well enough versed in the bible scripture to know what I'm talking about even if you don't agree with it or if you have various apologies for it.

Why don't you try to be straightforward and honest for a while?

Supposedly he finds us unworthy of him. I find him unworthy of worship. The feeling is mutual. You can try to gloss things over with love and tolerance and helping the poor and downtrodden later on in the book, but if you're not separating yourself from the kind of things done in the old testament you can't expect me to ignore it.

You can't tell someone that god is inconceivable and incomprehensible to mere mortals, then right afterwards say with certainty that he's the epitome of virtue and goodness.

Is the OP saying he personally is righteous enough to stand in the presence of the Christian God?

I think anyone who doesn't commit mass murder when people aren't paying as much attention to them as they like are a step ahead of the jewish/christian god.

When God created man He created us in His image and likeness. So we were created with, as you put it "original grace" and not "original sin" because we were created as a reflection of His character and nature. It wasn't until we rejected Him that sin entered into the world. Not His fault but ours.

If you define "not worthy" as unable to obtain salvation through personal rightousness then I agree God says we are not worthy without him because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory (His image and likeness) of God.

God sees our need (for salvation something we cannot do ourselves through personal rightousness) so He does it for us (doctrine of salvation/attonement) then helps us to live more closely to His character and nature (doctrine of sanctification). This is exactly what a loving parent would do.

It needs to be both. People need to understand that their self-rightousness is not of enough value to obtain salvation but also knowing that "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotton son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." If you want to see your value to God, then read the crucifixion account of Jesus and understand He did that both because of you (your sin) and for you (how much He loves you).

If it could be proven beyond doubt that God exists...
and that He is the one spoken of in the Bible...
would you repent of your sins and place your faith in Jesus Christ?
