It's fine tuned for black holes. Aren't you a black hole? Tongue

It's obvious the universe is fine tuned because of the massive amount of life we find just in our own galactic backyard.

Oh, wait a sec....

I'm so sick of this vapid fine tuning crap. You want to claim that? Fine, go out and show me how fucking easy it is to just exist in ninety five percent of the damn place.

That, plus the fact that large chunks of our own damn planet aren't even 'fine tuned' for life.

Because an all-powerful being would not be so constrained as to be forced to "fine-tune" anything. But it does raise an interesting question- if the creator was so exacting in his design of the universe and the laws of physics, why did he do such a colossally awful job when it came to making sentient beings?
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

95% seems a little low to me.

This. About 70% of Earth is covered by water, many human habitats are deadly without proper protection, disease, other animals that can harm us, hell, we're not even safe in our own bodies! Fine tuning my ass!
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

I actually counted those parts of earth in my initial post, which is actually more telling of how completely untuned this shit really is. And frankly, I think I agree with Napo too: 95% does seem like I lowballed it. Tongue
