I suggest looking for videos or articles by people that used to be in Scientology. There's a culture of intimidation, both physical and psychological, underlying their organization. On top of that, if you're part of their organization and start to question them, they will punish you by basically turning you into a slave. There's some extremely nasty things going on behind their doors.
This!!

Will check it out. Their wiki just sounds like any other religion.

Here we are. I know it's half an hour but it's really essential viewing.

Ah Islam. Don't get me started on that.

Jacob, I'll take a look at that later tonight. Need to venture out into the snow now :/

Oh yeah.
Scientology is worse. It's just.... Worse. Angry It's a cult more than a religion. It eats people, deliberately and systematically destroying them psychologically. As hateful as violent radical Islam is, there is a certain honesty to it. Scientology is just cynical, deliberate brainwashing of the very worst kind.

Sorry, Jake. The definition of a cult is "any religion other than the one you belong to."

Scientology is pretty bad, but until they have extremist groups and leaders killing people then they just aren't as bad.

Gaaahhhh, yeah. I'm not expressing this well. I know, a religion is a large popular cult. A cult is a small unpopular religion.

Ok, I'll try to avoid using words which are semantically vague.

Do me a favor. If you've not already, watch that documentary I posted the link to. I can tell you from first hand experience that at least some of that is quite true and its fucking scary. Its much more than just a kooky set of beliefs.

I would not describe Islam as a cult. Or hinduism, buddhism, satanism, bieberism, the jehovahs wittnesses (although they have a few tendencies that way) or the mormans. I'm using the word to describe something quite different to "stuff I don't believe in".
