What would you think of making this a required safety feature?

This just reminded me of an atheist quote talking about theists who would argue about evolution. It said, "Since when did ignorance become an opinion?"

Why would not having handled a gun be ignorance on the subject that we're actually talking about? Granted, it's ignorance about how it feels to fire a gun and so on, but you can't even confirm I'm ignorant about the mechanics of the things. For all anyone knows, I could have a detailed schematic of every handgun ever made stored up in my head.

Which is, again, secondary to the issue of gun safety and whether these contentions we're dealing with are realistic or not. I don't need to have fired a gun to exist in the reality I do, where having one on hand has been completely unnecessary for me and everyone I know, in my entire life.

I'm glad you live in a world full of unicorns and rainbows where everyone is enlightened about all facts of all things.

What good is stored ammunition in an emergency?

This is like talking to a child but I'll explain.

I have some guns that I don't shoot regularly. They just sit and wait with live ammo in them that is years old. There are different kinds of emergencies and these guns are there for them. I like to be prepared for whatever situation there is.

Yep, that's what I said. Definitely. Not a stupid oversimplification to avoid dealing with the content of my argument at. All. Dodgy

So, "proper storage" means "just leave it in the gun"?

What sort of situations are you prepped for, anyway? Do you have certain guns that you have ready for certain events? This one's for armed intruders, this one's for Russkies, this one's for terrorists, this one's for government agents, got four each for ghosts, raptors, JWs and aliens, three for Decepticons, one to keep kids out of the yard, and under the bed is my special John Rambo set for when I want to get intimate with the missus.

The one under the pillow is so I can fire it when I'm about to cum. It makes the wife tighten up real quick so we can cum together.

Making guns less safe for me with this "safety feature" makes less sense than an education program.

Massachusetts has mandatory firearms safety classes. So there's that. [Image: coffeedrinker.gif]

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

Well, it's not that Esquilax. I'm not a gun nut and I don't even have a gun in my house. But I grew up with guns everywhere. My parents had them, all my friend's parents had them, etc. Me and my buddies would grab guns and go wandering in the woods all the time.

I've seen responsible gun owners and lived with guns everywhere but somehow people were still managing not to kill themselves or family members with them.

If your only exposure to guns are reading all the terrible things that happen from time to time then of course the only reaction anyone would have to the idea of gun ownership would be negative.

As an example I really loath Islam. I don't like any religion, but I harbor especially harsh feelings toward that religion. Years ago I was watching a youtube video where someone put every violent, messed up verse from the Koran on. And one guy was in the comments saying how fucked up it was to do that. And you know, I had to agree.

Imagine someone filming everything you do for 5 years and then making a montage of every idiotic thing you did for those 5 years. Stripped off of nothing but the negative, of course people would get a seriously warped view of what kind of person you are.

The news and mass media does the same thing to gun ownership in America.
Everything I needed to know about life I learned on Dagobah.

Quote:The Armatix iP1 is now being sold in California and is considered to be the first true smart gun available on the market. The way the gun works is pretty simple: It won’t fire unless it’s in range of a special wristwatch, worn by the gun’s owner. When the wristwatch and the gun are in the required proximity to one another, a light embedded in the gun turns from red to green.

I think it sounds like a great idea, but I don't bet it'll be long before gun nuts spout conspiracy theories about the government manually shutting down their guns via socialist magic or something.

I've seen these ideas before.
I keep telling people, you can't un-open pandora's box.
There's already 300 million guns floating around in the US.
They're not just going to disappear and this new gun will never make it in the American market regardless.
