It also shows him deeply ignorant of his own party's past. When the party was first formed it's ideology was well to the left, and until Teddy Roosevelt went off and formed the Bull Moose party it had a strong lefty wing, something the Dems didn't really cutivate until after the Depression.

GOP Gov. Snyder’s office says Detroit school kids have no right to literacy

The state of Michigan is being sued because several schools in Detroit are failing to teach children how to read, and Gov. Rick Snyder’s team of lawyers has come up with a novel defense.

According to local news station CBS Detroit, Gov. Snyder’s attorneys are claiming that children who are taught within the state’s school systems have no fundamental right to literacy, which means that the state isn’t liable if its schools fail to educate them.

So, I guess in Flint that people have no right to use a municipal water system and expect it to be free of lead?

Well, on the Flint water lead contamination, at least they had the concurrence of Obama's EPA. I'd assume Obama's department of education will step up to the plate on the literacy issue, while they still can.

In fact, it's kinda odd, ain't it, there's not a rush, nationwide, to get stuff fixed NOW, while it still can be ?? Once 1/20/17 rolls around it'll be too late. I'd think Washington would be doing the equivalent of a land office business/going out of business sale right now, and actually, things look actually tepid if not slothful.

I'm just trying to make sense of all this, and I'm failing spectacularly . . .
