NASHVILLE (AP) - The recitation of a little-known "Salute to the Flag of Tennessee" in the state Senate is often met with confusion with visitors to the upper chamber of the General Assembly.

Now, lawmakers want to have schoolchildren follow suit.

The Senate voted 32-0 on Tuesday to urge schools to have students recite the salute that reads: "Three white stars on a field of blue / God keep them strong and ever true / It is with pride and love that we / Salute the Flag of Tennessee."

Don't the schools have enough trouble without these morons always sticking their noses in?

I'm actually in favor of what the Republicans are doing there but did we need a new law to stop that practice? I would think maiming of this nature would be illegal anyway.

A Republican candidate for South Carolina lieutenant governor says Christians should remove their children from public schools.

“It’s our hope and prayer that a fresh obedience by Christian families and educating their children according to biblical commands will prove to be a key for the revival of our families, our churches, and our nation,” said Ray Moore, a retired Army Reserves chaplain and president of Frontline Ministries.

Moore told a gathering of Tea Party activists at the April 12 Liberty Rally that Christians must leave the “Pharaoh’s school system” for religious schools or home schools.

Female so-called "circumcision" should be called "female castration". When they cut off a woman's clitoris, it destroys her ability to ever enjoy sex. In my view, it permanently ruins her as a sexual being. It's a barbaric practice of maiming that has no place in a civilized society.

I am also against male circumcision without the consent of the person being circumcised. Male circumcision also has its detrimental effects. As I understand it, it reduces his pleasure during sex. However, he can still have sex and enjoy it. It doesn't ruin his sexuality. It also has a subjective plus side in my view: I kind of like the aesthetic look of cut cocks. That may be just me.

So in sum, it's a matter of how severe the consequences are. In my opinion, it's far more dire in the case with females and I rank the practice alongside male castration.

Kind of like the amendments against Sharia law?

You know, what a great idea! We should have an amendment against Sharia law. In fact, it should be an amendment against all forms of religiously imposed sectarian laws. It should forbid the government to establish a religion. In fact, let's use those words "congress shall make no law establishing a religion."

Can we retroactively make that the very first federal constitutional amendment? This sounds really important and the amendments should start with that one.
