Kid accidentally packs beer in lunchbox, tells teacher, gets punished anyway

This is a great example of why zero tolerance policies are absurd. What's worse is that all levels of administration simply go through the motion of doling out prescribed punishment rather than considering all relavent facts and acting accordingly.

It's not so much the policy that amazes me. It's the fact that a teacher (someone who is supposed to be of reasonable intelligence at the very least), wasn't reasonable enough to just take the beer off the kid and leave the situation alone after that. It's pretty clear the kid didn't mean to pack it, why the fuck would he implicate himself drinking beer, by telling a fucking teacher before actually drinking the fucking beer. What moron of a teacher, looks at this situation, and goes "oh my god, he was planning on drinking alcohol on school premises, I should go tell my boss". Fucking numpties.
