It must suck that your whole point doesn't stand up to the facts of the Star Wars universe.

It must suck that fiction is fiction and the entire point is that religion is fiction. Pretty motifs in fiction don't make it more credible than religion.
I just answered that dumbass. I can't hate Mickey Mouse. But if people believed in Mickey Mouse as much as they do Allah and Yahweh and God. It would seem reasonable to hate the influence the fans of Mickey Mouse could have on politics and global affairs.
Brian,
I understand your point and don't disagree. The only thing I'll add is that 'feeling' was the way to interact with the force and shouldn't be construed as similar to a 'burning bosom' feeling. There's no room for theists here. Using feelings to engage the force had tangible effects in the Star Wars universe; i.e., the force could be demonstrated. They can't do the same with their special 'feelings'. (March 4, 2014 at 4:51 pm)futilethewinds Wrote:(March 4, 2014 at 4:16 pm)eyemixer Wrote: Only the wrong emotions. No True Jedi™ invests in 'those' emotions.Really? Because this is the official Jedi code: All that was written when? This sounds like the stuff Lucas came up with when the "prequels" were written and he came up with the Midichlorians crap. Lucas paid little attention to continuity and started changing things around. I reject the prequels as non-canonical, to be burned with all the other heretical works.

Star Wars is fantasy. I enjoy it for what it is. And there are plenty of other fantasy shows/movies/books that involve theistic beliefs that I also enjoy, despite not believing in their theism. Hercules and Xena were amusing shows, despite the fact that I don't believe in the Greek gods portrayed there.
That's MISTER Godless Vegetarian Tree Hugging Hippie Liberal to you.

THEY ORIGINATED FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE FORCE WORKING THROUGH LUCAS AFTER HE TURNED SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF RETURN OF THE JEDI!!!! It was then that dark forces from the marketing department whispered to him. No, don't make Endor the Wookie home world. Yes, it would make the final battle with the Emperor's Elite Brigade make more sense but Ewoks are so much more cute and marketable. Cash in and give yourself over to the marketing side. ALL THE PREQUELS ARE BLASPHEMOUS! BURN THEM ALL!
