You seem to have a comprehension problem. If someone hasn't said something that doesn't mean that they have said something else.
You seem to have a reading problem... such as discs insistence that we simply take the authors at their word

Excellent. As you are aware, there has been much discussion about debate topics here thus far. Several people prior to you had made suggestions and in fairness to you, I extend you the opportunity to make some suggestions as well.
What would you like to debate?
I'm quite happy with the one you suggested. My view on the bible has somewhat evolved over the last 5 years.
To set my stall out early, I think that jesus was a real guy and that the gospels are based on his life and teaching. However I think much of what was written was inaccurate and some of it was probably flat out invented.
Might somebody set it up for us in the debate forum?

Okay, listen: I've read through the entire thread. Disc's main claim here has been that the gospels are historically accurate. That's a claim that requires support, and that support is something that Disc has claimed he has. I'm asking him where he provided that support, because to my eyes, all he's presented so far is his claim. Oh, and this:
Quote:You know, I marvel at all of you here. I say this because all I hear is show me proof, give me evidence blah blah blah ad nauseaum.....
And then you have accounts of a series of events that could only be done by God and you dismiss it as fiction!!!!!!
Hmm... we've been presented with "accounts" have we? What accounts bar the bible has he presented?

There's an old saying that comes to mind but it really has merit.
"For those who have faith, no explanation is needed; for those who don't, no explanation given will be enough."
Faith and religion aren't built on facts. There is currently no evidence to support the existence of a Deity. I think if religious people would just admit that instead of "challenging" people to debating God's existence, they'd be more respected because that would be a genuine point of view.
Frankly, if you can prove out your faith with facts, it ceases to require "faith."

Has the debate started yet where discipulus has said he will produce that information?

Soon as a mod sets it up we shall have at it.
Title was "Are the gospels are reliable biographies of the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth."

Oh, so after twenty three pages, not to mention multiple threads were an actual discussion has been taking place for days with the guy, it's too much to ask for him to even hint at the references he might have for his position? Just once?

Christianity came into existence during the first century in Palestine. Followers of a one Jesus of Nazareth believed that He rose from the dead on the Sunday following His crucifixion under Pontius Pilate who was the fifth prefect of the Roman province of Judaea, from AD 26–36. He is best known as the judge at the trial of Jesus and the man who authorized the crucifixion of Jesus. As prefect, he served under Emperor Tiberius.
