Not so fast, Jacob! Have you given proper consideration to the fine but crucial differences between debating something and discussing it? Have you laid out in excrutiating detail the methods by which you could distinguish these different forms of interaction (and are said methods free of category errors and the taint of empiricism)? Will you be prepared to defend your theory of knowledge at any time, regardless of its relevance? If not, you might wish to go off and develop a comprehensive epistemology before trying to discuss anything.

It is important to lay this groundwork lest you find yourself utterly unable to have a discussion, which would not be fruitful.

Do you understand? If not, I will gladly provide quotes from various scholars who had many fascinating, if perhaps drunken, insights into these lofty matters. And if that doesn't help you, I will be here for the next forty-odd pages to steer you toward the light. Why? Because I value clarity of thought almost as much as I love Jesus. Angel

Is anyone else starting to think that this might just be Disc's schtick, here? Artificially elongating the pre-debate negotiations so that anyone who actually challenges him will grow bored with what will undoubtedly be an insufferable experience and give up, so that he can claim nobody has the wherewithal to actually debate him?Thinking

Because despite the forty-five pages of negotiations with various parties beforehand, he was remarkably eager to do just that earlier, and in doing so pretend that those other challenges didn't exist... Thinking

Oh, and pocaracas, I beat you to that exact joke days ago. Tongue

OK. Here's my position.

Red is not blue.

There. I'm done. Sorry if that's not complex enough.

Please explain what you mean by "red," "blue," "is," and "not," because it is vitally important that we understand your exact meaning behind these words before we continue. Obviously I disagree, as do many scholars, so...

And so on, for eight thousand pages. Rolleyes
