I'm too dumb to be an atheist
RE: I'm too dumb to be an atheist
I might be too stupid to comprehend some stuff, too, OP. This disease sends all this information into an abyss of shit.

I just breathe and know that the pain of the world is too much for god to be alive. I hope you really try to understand how you're brain-washed. This idea that god is watching you is something you have to get over on your own.
I hate the bible. I love that do as thy whilst stuff.

Except if you prove a bang, or provide evidence for a bang, that does not matter. The following set of possibilities pretty much encompass all that is left to explain.

The universe has a bang and the time is known, or it was beyond the alleged bang and then we don't know.

The universe was a point, or a slightly larger point not including zero, or bigger, or even infinite at the bang. Stuff happened after.

Bottom line, the observable universe limits don't mater in the scope of the big bang. You have to observe new physics or evidence for new physics.

I LOVE the observable universe, and will not speculate beyond that.

When people pontificate about the Big Bang they sound exactly like theists telling us God did it. That's probably because a Catholic priest came up with the idea. It's just another branch of religion that needs special rules to explain what happened.

You don't have to be an atheist know all, you don't have to know all about science and how the world got here, you just simply realize that a god just doesn't make any sense, and that is basically all you need to know, of course if you want to find out more then do the research.

Explain... Which parts of BB are religious dogma?

I was always under the impression that the universe was infinite and constantly expanding, as well. From the books I've read, anyway.

Omg that nasa page is wrong! Flat geometry does not imply noncompact topology(ie infinite spatial extent)! I'll write them, maybe they'll answer then I post it

Ok, so I've written them and complained Tongue
Maybe they'll respond, then I'll post it in a new thread if they give permission. Thinking

Quote:Dear Dr. Chuss,

I have a quick question concerning the NASA popular science page

http://map.gsfc.nasa.gov/universe/uni_shape.html

on the shape of the universe. Your name was given as
the NASA official, which is why I write to you.

In the past weeks
I participated in some (online) discussions concerning the finiteness
of the universe and the philosophical consequences which measurements
of curvature might yield. One of the participants linked to the above
NASA page to argue that a flat universe would indicate a universe
of infinite volume. This is indeed stated on the page, which essentially
equates open and flat geometry with infinite geometry.

As far as I am aware, there are various compact d=3 manifolds with
flat ricci curvature which could be realized in nature if the universe is indeed
flat (the simplest being the three-torus). My question is therefore: is there
any particular physical or mathematical reason which I miss why your
webpage claims that flat or hyperbolic geometry automatically
entails infinite volume?
Since I am somewhat involved in science outreach, and such questions
crop up regularly, It would be a great help if you could comment briefly!

Cheers
Alex K
