If you lived in Jesus' day, how would you of responded?

After seeing Jesus turn water into wine, I would ask him what other drugs he can conjure up.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Believing is not knowing. "Believing" is a flawed epistemic approach.

Humans over the centuries have believed many things that can be dismissed as nonsense. Spring heel Jack for instance. Why are their beliefs any less valid than yours?

The only valid process we've found to date to filter nonsense from reality is by examining the evidence.

The only evidence Christians have is a collection of doctored, 1st-3rd century propaganda mushed together with Jewish mythology. Hardly compelling.

And lastly, "many others" believing something has zero bearing on its truth. "Many others" are Muslims/Hindus/Mormons et al, and yet as a Christian, you think they are believing incorrectly. You see the flaw in that line of thinking?

Bare assertions will get you nowhere.

My reaction to him would depend upon who I was, I suppose. Some people believed he was who he supposedly stated he was while others did not believe it. I cannot state with certainty that I would be a clear headed atheist back then, because I cannot transfer my conscious to the past knowing what I know now. Instead, I would be wholly a person of that time, ingrained into that society, and my belief regarding who he was would be dependent upon whether I was an ignorant peasant, a powerful figure, and whether or not I was a Jew.

Not everything can be explained scientifically, especially when it comes to faith. I don't need empirical evidence that He existed when I know how he changed my life and many others.

That's too funny (pathetic). The only evidence is what some unknown guys wrote about an unknown guy in a book. It's like believing in the Lone Ranger riding around Texas shooting silver bullets on a pure white stallion with a black mask around his eyes in the hot Texas sun with an Indian by his side on a pinto horse.

His family didn't believe him so why so I be more gullible than them?

His brother James and His mother did.

Attributing an idea to your life changing experience does not make the idea real. People daily change their lives for the better in secular ways, but they are not ignorantly attributing the constructs which changed them to deific hogwash.

Not necessarily, there were people in Jesus who witnessed the miracles He performed and still wanted Him killed.

Its not all about the miracles. Millions believe in Him today and never witnessed any.

Where did u get the evidence for ur claim

His apostles believed in him so much that they gave up their lives. Over 500 witnessed Him post resurrection.

I believe Harry Potter is who he says he is (and that he is who other people say he is). Does that make Harry Potter real?

Who would die for a lie? Well, lots of people. For lots of reasons.

Over 500 people witnessed Harry defeating Voldemort in the Great Hall at Hogwarts castle in June of 1997.

Appealing to the number of witnesses doesn't make a thing true.

Again, more flawed reasoning.

While science may not explain everything, it does a vastly better job than any religion. Faith is just another way of saying "pretending to know".

So, you are saying "Not everything can be explained scientifically, especially when it comes to pretending to know things." Absolutely true. Science doesn't pretend to know things, yet religion does. Faith = pretending to know. If you had evidence, you might actually know something.

If Jesus truly changed anyone's lives for the better, that would show up in statistics, now wouldn't it? And yet, it doesn't. Not at all. Maybe Jeebs like Norway, Denmark and Sweden more than much of Africa, the Philippines, and Mississippi?

The person who wrote about it (who wasn't there at the time) said there were 500 witnesses, none of whom were named or wrote anything down themselves.

Does that really sound legit to you? There's a hadith that Mohammed split the moon in half with a sword and then it was joined back together again, how many witnesses would they have to say saw it for you to believe it's true?
