"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Since I found an excuse to bring up Universalism, some verses to ponder:
Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself. John 12:31-32 For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being; for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ. 1Cor. 15:21-22 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the Sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme. Mark 3:28 Therefore just as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all. Rom. 5:18 For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may be merciful to all. Rom 11:32 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 (March 12, 2014 at 10:55 am)truthBtold Wrote:(March 12, 2014 at 10:53 am)ronedee Wrote: "Why" is the important question. Do you think all the non-believers here are going to hell? Do you, like GC, make the claim that the 'unsaved' simply "escort" themselves into hell? I've said it before and I'll keep saying it; 'sacrificing' an immortal being is like cutting one's hair, that shit grows back.
I'm surprised none of our resident Christians have swooped in and made the "godly might makes right" argument. Also; blow it out your ass Ronedee.
Someone recently asked where I get my morals in a recent thread, and mentioned it's ok to make appeals to authority if you're appealing to the ultimate authority. Apparently morality is what Yahweh says it is, instead of being an objective thing that he follows like everyone else, and that's ok because he's at the top of the pole.

I had a woman that backed Divine Command Theory get into a debate with me and a few others about morality, it was really entertaining watching her do mental backflips.
