Mind = Brain?

RE: Mind = Brain?
Oh, i thought you were suggesting that you could have thoughts outside of the brain Tongue I think i see what you were saying now Tongue

I thought it was a pretty good analogy, actually. Tongue However, it was aimed more at humor than at being completely alike to the brain's processes...

You need a brain>, then you need perception to be able to define it as a thought <which you need a brain to do>, you need imagination to conceptualize the thought <insert action of the brain here>, you need memory to store the thought <another part of the brain>, you need willpower to retrieve specifically that thought memory <Do you really? But in any case: still reliant on the brain>, reason to define a meaningful context for the thought <All this brainwork is making my brain hurt!>, all of which will stir some level of emotional reaction <Will it? Either way: reliant upon the brain>. Thinking about your thoughts leads to a fairly encompassing example.
I think we need to think harder ^_^ My point was under the assumption that you were arguing that these things could occur without the brain, otherwise we should be agreeing upon the point that point A has to exist if I'm going to jog to point A and back Smile

I have no idea how you managed to get from my post to me suggesting that you don't need a brain to think - it's a bit like going from "I can't explain the universe" to "Jesus rules!"

Oh, so that's why she couldn't even finish her first term? She was too busy watching Vladimir through his bathroom window.

Through the bathroom window? Hell, she was in there with him! Tongue

She's too busy managing her home life and affair life to handle the life of the Governor... but somehow both her husband and Vladimir are behind her running for the 2012 US presidential nomination...

Her husband so that he can get Alaska to secede from the States... and Vladimir so that he can take all of the US's land for the Motherland. Smile

In which case i think it to be interesting that Mr. fr0d0 thinks that a 'spirit' can have a mind without having a brain Smile A mind is based upon a brain (or equivalent)... does a spirit have a brain, fr0d0? Or are you considering the 'soul' to be exactly what a 'mind' is, fr0d0?

I've said what I think the mind is. It's a product of the brain. I think your spirit is also your soul. It's a gutteral instinct. Something uncontrollable, yet access is facilitated by conscious thought. You think right, your are in harmony with your gut. You think wrong, your gut is twisted. Comprendez?
